About the ports
San Diego
In addition to being home to an excellent zoo and aquarium, San Diego is a laid-back navy town that is the closest U.S. city to Mexico. Great Mexican/American cuisine, Spanish-inspired architecture and what some consider the best weather in North America, make San Diego a destination unto itself.
Honolulu
The cosmopolitan heart of the archipelago, Honolulu rises up from the lush Hawaiian flora like a beautiful white architectural rendering. Pearl Harbor, the Polynesian Cultural Center and lolani Palace, one of the only royal palaces on American soil, are but a few of the hundreds of attractions and points of interest available to the ambitious sightseer.
Lahaina
The most prominent feature in Maui is Haleakala, the world's largest dormant volcano, rising 10,000 feet above sea level. The term dormant applies only to the volcano, for on the lower slopes of Haleakala you'll find emerald meadows and flower farms: all accessible from the historic town of Lahaina.
Kailua Kona
This was once the seat of power from which the great King Kamehameha ruled his island empire. Located on the picturesque Kona Coast, Kailua Kona is close to the marine sanctuary of Kealakekua Bay. This snorkeling haven is also home to the Captain Cook monument.
Kilauea volcano
The Big Island has grown over 500 acres thanks to the active nature of Mount Kilauea, Hawaii's youngest Volcano. This molten masterpiece also happens to be one of the worlds most active and likes to show off when the sun goes down. Fortunately, you will have a front-row seat to this nighttime spectacle. Watch for the fiery lava flows that blaze down the mountainside as your cruise ship glides by in the night. You will never think of fireworks the same way again.
Hilo
Located on the lush coast of the Big Island, Hilo is the capital city of Hawaii. Hilo is also where you'll find two of the most spectacular waterfalls in all of creation: Rainbow Falls in the south and the mammoth Akaka Falls in the north, which sends hundreds of thousands of gallons of water plummeting over a volcanic cliff. Hilo is also home to Volcanoes National Park and the imposing Kilauea Volcano.
